First REAL test of the car, in race situations. Overall not bad at all =]
Friday was.... very tricky. Test and Quali situations were dry, and it was a gamble what was going to happen for the first race. Will it stay dry or will it rain?
In the end EVERYBODY took the gamble to stay on slick tires (i.e.: no grooves at all) and the SECOND they get sent out on the track, the rain starts.
So yeah, slip, slide, zero grip and just stay on the track.
I'm amazed dad stayed out, since he DESPISES wet tracks, but he brought her in on a very good 13th place.
Next race, switched to semi-slicks (the choice when you need grooves, but it's too dry for real raintires) and that worked very good. There was a tricky wet spot in the third corner, which nearly kicked my ass big time. I managed to stay on course, but half the field had gone past, so I had some work to do in a car that was ABSOLUTELEY not set up for wet conditions..... Eventually I finished 12th overall, 10th in class, so our starting position for the third race improved by 3.
Final race of day 1, dad's turn yet again, drying track, but still on semi's.
Worked like a dream, he ploughed through the field and came in 5th. a very, very good result in still not ideal conditions and a brand new car on a track we haven't been on in 13 months.
Day 2 started with a warmup. I headed out on track on semi's, which seemed the right choice, but I got overtaken by several guys on slicks and I simply couldn't follow.
So I headed in and we changed back to slicks for the race that was going to start only 50 minutes later.....
That was really the right choice. Dad's turn again and he managed to follow the 2nd and 3rd quite good. He missed the final lap marker so his thought up strategy of "overtake them on power in the final lap then block like heck" didn't came out.
Still, it was a genuine photo-finish. The gap between the #3 and him was almost non-existant.
Final race of the weekend, my turn again. Best starting position I ever had, 2nd row.
At the start the guy in front of me managed a false start (away too early) but it didn't matter. Our car has sooo much acceleration off the line that I overtook him, the #3 as well and dove into the first corner second. After 3 laps the #3 was back on my tail again, and since he was clearly faster through the corner and I didn't want to damage the car, I let him past quite easily, only to start blocking the #4 like no tomorrow.
I held it literally till the flag dropped, and came in 3rd.
3RD! I was soooo happy, second time ever on the track, first time ever with the car, the whole race I was blocking like a boxer taking muhammed ali's punch-rain and I pulled it through.
We even got a prize for finishing 6th overall in the class, I'll put up a picture of that later on.
So yes, you can say the test was..... succesfull. There are still some serious issues to adress, but we'll come to those in the winter. We've got one race left in 2 weeks on our home course, so we'll test her as-is there and then head into winter for finishing touches.

Nothing much though
Nothing much is happening over here, except halloween, me studying for an exam and being bored.
